Little
Creek Park Disc Golf Course
Course Rules
General
The golf course is here for people
to enjoy. Participants are free to play in whatever manner they choose. However, for
players that like to keep score and compete with others, adherence to a common set of rules is encouraged.
The Official
Rules of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) provide a standard that is generally recognized worldwide.
The complete rules may be found at pdga.com. Select the About Disc Golf link. Local
PDGA members and other experienced players can also help with rules questions.
Out of
bounds
All paved areas (roads, parking lots, etc.) and the areas beyond them are out of bounds (OB) **.
One penalty throw is assessed for throws that come to rest surrounded by an OB area. The OB player
then throws from a point up to one meter in-bounds from where the disc went OB.
Discs partially in-bounds
are considered in-bounds. Such discs as well as those in-bounds by less than a meter may be moved, without
penalty, up to one meter in-bounds from the nearest OB point. Throws should not be made from an OB area.
Hole #1
Throws from the #1 tee must pass to the right of the telephone
pole located to the left of the tee just across the road. Throws passing the pole to the left result in
the assessment of one penalty throw. The player then throws from a drop zone positioned midway between
the pole and the tree located several yards to the right. Throws landing out of bounds on the road between
the tee and the pole are also assessed one penalty throw and the same drop zone is used for the subsequent shot.
Hole #2
If a thrown disc comes to rest on top of or inside the old archery target, the player must take
the next shot, without penalty, from a drop zone located five meters in front of the archery target.
Sometimes a disc will come
to rest beneath the archery target. Often the player will still be able to take a stance for the following
shot in compliance with the normal rules (See Sec. 803.04 of the Official Rules). However, if such lie
is deemed unplayable without violating the stance rule, the player may throw the following shot, without penalty, from the
same drop zone referred to above.
** an
obvious exception would be when the area beyond the road is part of the fairway, as is the case with the roads right in front
of the tee on #1 and #8.
